Dry and wet riser services in Eastbourne

If you manage a block of flats, a hotel or a care home in Eastbourne, the rising main in your building is one of the pieces of fire protection equipment the fire service will rely on most. Eversafe Fire Protection installs, inspects, tests and maintains dry and wet riser systems for residential, commercial and industrial properties in Eastbourne and the surrounding towns. Our job is simple: make sure that when firefighters connect to your riser, water reaches every floor at the pressure they need.

Whether you have a question about your current system, need advice on what your building requires, or want to book a test, our team is happy to help.

The buildings we work on around Eastbourne

Eastbourne has a real mix of properties that depend on risers. Along the seafront you have tall hotels and purpose built blocks of flats, many of them looked after by managing agents on behalf of residents. Further back from the front there are care homes, retirement developments and converted period buildings, plus newer apartment schemes around Sovereign Harbour and the town centre. On the edges of town, the industrial estates and business parks have their own needs, from warehouses to office buildings.

We work with:

  • Managing agents and freeholders responsible for blocks of flats and retirement apartments
  • Hotel owners and operators on and near the seafront
  • Care home and healthcare providers who need equipment kept in working order
  • Commercial landlords and facilities managers looking after offices, shops and mixed use buildings
  • Industrial sites with rising mains serving larger floor areas

What we do

Dry riser testing and inspection

A dry riser stays empty until the fire service pumps water into it through the inlet at ground level. Because it sits unused for most of its life, faults often go unnoticed: missing caps, seized valves, damaged inlet boxes or leaks in the pipework. BS 9990 recommends a visual inspection every six months and a full pressure test every year. We carry out both, record the results and tell you plainly what needs attention.

Buildings close to the sea can be harder on external equipment, so we pay close attention to inlet cabinets, valves and fittings for wear and corrosion.

Wet riser servicing

Wet risers are kept permanently charged with water, fed by pumps and tanks, and are found in taller buildings. They have more working parts, so they need regular servicing to keep pumps, valves and controls working properly. We test flow and pressure at the outlets and check the supply side so you know the system will deliver when it matters.

Installation, repairs and upgrades

We install new dry and wet riser systems and carry out repairs and replacement of parts on existing ones. If a test turns up a problem, we explain what we found and what it will take to put it right.

Why regular testing matters

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person for a building must keep firefighting equipment maintained and in good working order. A riser that fails on the day is a serious risk to residents, guests and firefighters. Regular testing also gives you written records, which insurers, fire safety assessors and residents increasingly ask to see.
